Aiden Saez, '27, is a Junior at Toll Gate High School and a Construction Trades student at the Warwick Area Career & Technical Center. You may recall a Friday football game being dedicated in his honor last Fall with the school day being designated a "Dress Down Day" with everyone being encouraged to wear orange to "Tackle Childhood Cancer."

Unfortunately, despite some initial progress, Aiden's cancer has now relapsed and aggressively spread to his skin. Additionally, he now requires a bone marrow transplant that requires his immediate move out of Hasbro Children's Hospital to surgery and a long-term stay for an unknown period of time at Boston Children's Hospital.

To help the family with rapidly increasing medical expenses, Superintendent McCaffrey has approved a District-Wide "Dress Down Day" for NEXT Friday, May 15th. All are encouraged to wear orange (the color of Leukemia awareness) - or their favorite sports team gear - as we become "One Warwick Team" that is united in our continued support of Aiden and his ongoing fight to win this battle that has left him struggling.

The Go Fund Me established last Fall has already helped the family in a very beneficial way and remains open for new contributions. If you wish to make a first-time or additional donation to the cause, especially in connection to next Friday's Dress Down Day for Aiden, you may do so here here. Any and all donations directly support the new medical costs expected from his time at Boston Children's Hospital.

On behalf of the faculty and staff teams at TGHS and WACTC - and most especially Aiden and his family - we sincerely thank you for your support!

Dear Warwick Vets Middle School community,

It has my distinct pleasure to serve on the board of the Warwick Vets Middle School PTSA for the last 3 years.

It is now time for me to move on. My 8th grader will be starting high school next year. Therefore, I will no longer be able to serve on the PTSA board for Vets.

There are currently no candidates to replace me.

A PTSA board must have at least 3 members: a President, a Treasurer and a Secretary. I will be available next year to guide the new board and help with the transition in any way I can. I am not leaving Warwick, but I am leaving Vets.

I am asking anyone with an interest in getting involved in your school to please email warwickvetsptsa@gmail.com for more information.I can assure you middle school is not like elementary school. It is way less events, stress and absolutely no drama.

The Warwick Vets PTSA's last meeting of the year will be Tuesday, May 12 at 6:30pm in the cafeteria. We will be holding elections for next year. Candidates may run from the floor.

If we do not have at least 3 people willing to take board positions, we will begin the process of shutting down the Warwick Vets Middle School PTSA.

Thank you,

Julie Henner

Dear Warwick Veterans Families,

This week is an exciting and important time for our school community. From Monday through Wednesday, Warwick Veterans Memorial Middle School will host our NEASC Accreditation Visit.

NEASC stands for the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, an independent organization that works with schools across New England to ensure high standards for teaching, learning, and school improvement. During the accreditation process, a team of experienced educators visits our school to learn about the work we are doing, review our programs, speak with students and staff, and provide feedback to help us continue to grow.

Over the past several years, our staff, students, and families have contributed to a detailed reflection on our school—looking at what we do well and identifying areas where we can continue to improve. The visiting team will spend time in classrooms, meeting with members of our school community, and learning more about the great work happening at Warwick Veterans.

During the visit, students may notice guests visiting classrooms, walking through the building, and occasionally speaking with students about their learning and experiences at school.

This visit is an opportunity for us to celebrate the progress our school has made and highlight the strong sense of Hurricane Pride that exists throughout our building. We are proud of our students, staff, and families, and we look forward to sharing the story of our school with the visiting team.

Thank you for your continued support of Warwick Veterans Memorial Middle School.

Sincerely,
Michelle Devine

This event is being hosted by Vets alum, Michael Bessette, as part of his senior project to honor his uncle, Mr. Jason Almeida. Vets students may purchase tickets at lunch now though Thursday. Community members may reserve tickets using the Google form found at the QR code or purchase tickets at the door.

We hope you will join us for a fun night of basketball, community, and remembrance as we celebrate the lasting impact Mr. Almeida had on our school community.

Penny Wars start today! We will be hosting Penny Wars again this year. The war will go on for 2 weeks (3/9-3/20). The jugs can be found in the cafeteria during lunch. There has been a change to the rules this year at a student's request (since he said pennies are a thing of the past), so pennies and bills will be counted as positives towards the total. All proceeds from the Penny Wars will be donated to this year's plunge team!

Report cards have now been posted and are available for you to review through the ASPEN portal. We encourage you to take some time to look through the report card with your child. This is a great opportunity to celebrate their successes and accomplishments, as well as to talk about areas where they can continue to grow and improve.

Thank you for your continued partnership in supporting your child’s learning and progress.
