There are over 15 countries in the world who celebrate Lunar New Year. However, not all have adopted the Chinese zodiac. Those who have will name this year the "Year of the Horse." This year, the Lunar New Year falls on February 19th.
Here at Vets, we have many students celebrating this holiday. Carving and decorating mandarin oranges for Lunar New Year symbolizes wealth, luck, and prosperity. Carvers often transform them into festive, animal-themed displays. To commemorate, Culture Club has made Mandarin lanterns by carving out the orange too. Check out the photos of Tuesday’s Culture Club activity. They are also on display above the teacher mailboxes in the main office.
