"Mid-Quarter" check-in is today, Oct. 1st
October 1st marks the midpoint of Quarter 1. This is an important time for families to log into ASPEN and review student grades and assignments. Taking a few minutes now can make a big difference later in the quarter.
If you notice missing assignments: Encourage your child to connect directly with their teacher—either in person or by sending an email—to ask about opportunities to make up or complete the work.
If grades are lower than expected: Students should take ownership by reaching out to their teacher for clarification, feedback, or extra help. Developing the habit of self-advocacy not only improves academics but also builds lifelong skills in responsibility and communication.
If grades are strong and your child is doing well: Celebrate the effort! Encourage your child to share their successes with teachers and thank them for their support. Recognition from both home and school reinforces positive habits and motivates continued effort.
If families have questions about grades or assignments, the first step is to reach out to the classroom teacher. Teachers will have the most accurate and detailed information about your child’s progress, expectations, and next steps for success.
When students take the lead in asking questions, seeking feedback, and taking responsibility for their progress—and families partner with teachers—students grow as independent learners and strengthen the home–school connection. Checking in at mid-quarter helps ensure students stay on track, receive support early, and feel proud of the progress they are making.
