The Warwick Veterans Memorial Middle School Choir has several openings this year.
I expect the choir members all in place for this year by September 23, 2021.
The group usually sings songs based on 3-parts. Soprano I, Soprano II and Alto. (SSA)
The choir will be selected by audition and a signed choir contract.
Choir meets every Thursday from 6:30 to 8pm (not meeting 9/16, NO SCHOOL) and is open
to all students in the school who pass the audition and maintain a good attitude and attendance in
the group. We will have sectional rehearsals sometimes on Tuesday after school. I am hoping for late buses
to begin soon.
The choir is mainly for students who want to sing and explore more challenging and varied
music literature. They will be the first group called on to represent the school at any performance-based function. The Veterans MS Choir will be the “core” of the much larger grade 6, 7, and 8 chorus groups.
The Vets Choir of 2019-2020, the group went to Woburn High School and received a “Gold” medal performance rating of 91 and 91 which are very impressive scores. The scores also are basically the same scores the past 4 years. Last year was canceled. We are looking to move those scores upward this year!
We spend the rest of the day at Canobie Lake Park in Salem, New Hampshire. The students received individual awards, T-shirt, and a coach bus. The cost of these trips generally run around
$7000 dollars depending on fundraising and donation funds.
This year the Vets Choir is registered for the Great East Festivals on Friday, June 3, 2022. We are going back to New Hampshire for the day. All students who sing on this trip are marked present for the school day.
